Marc Smith Educational Charity
The Charity was established in 1814 to promote education in the villages of Claybrooke Magna, Claybrooke Parva, Ullesthorpe and Wibtoft. Marc Smith left the income from his property in Coventry to establish a small school. Local landowners gave land on which the school was built in 1814. The Old Schoolhouse has been rented out to provide an income for the Marc Smith Charity for many years. The Charity funds clothing grants for children from the area moving up to senior school and larger grants to students from our area going on to further education.
Place of Residence: The usual place of residence of applicants must be within the parishes of Claybrooke Parva, Claybrooke Magna, Ullesthorpe and Wibtoft. Trustees normally expect that applicant will have been resident within these parishes for at least 3 years.
Application periods: Uniform Grants usually open May/June and Educational Grants usually open in August. Details are published via Claybrooke and Ullesthorpe Primary Schools for the uniform grants, and both grants are publicised via Social Media and posters.
